It is hard to steer left or right

There is too little oil in hydraulic system of the power steering mechanism.

Open the oil tank and check the oil level. With engine running fill up with oil to the drawn line level and deaerate. In all cases check for leakproofness and remove all leak causes.

The hydraulic system is filled with air.

Check for leakproofness of suction conduits and of pump shaft’s seal ring. Deaerate the hydraulic system and fill up with oil.

The pump regulative valve stays suspended or is clogged.

Dismount the regulative valve, clean it through and check. The choke hole cannot be choked.

There has been filter crack and the choke hole of suction conduit has been choked.

Dismount oil tank, pump regulative valve and clean the filtering slip. Clean through the suction conduit and suction stub.

The filter is stuck, conduits are choked.

Dismount and exchange filter slip, clean the conduits.

The valve piston is leaky or it doesn’t seal the valve.

Install new steering gear’s screw.

The seal ring in the intermediate cover is damaged.

Dismount the valve cover and steering gear’s screw. Install new seal ring in the intermediate cover.

The piston sealing rings are damaged.

Unscrew the valve cover. Dismount the shaft of steering gear’s arm. Check the shaft seal rings and piston, exchange rings when damaged. Check if the cylinder’s surface isn’t scratched or damaged. In case of scratches exchange the steering gear’s cover.

Lack of pressure in the lower part of the cylinder.

Dismount the shaft and check the hydraulic limiter. In case of any damages the limiter needs to be exchanged. Replace for new round seal rings.

Lower- or upper hydraulic turn limiter has leaks.

Dismount and check the hydraulic limiter. In case of damage one should be replaced. Replace for new round seal rings.

Pressure lack in upper space of cylinder.

Unscrew the valve housing with intermediate cover and dismount the steering gear’s screw. Check the round seal rings between housing, intermediate cover and valve housing. Replace in case of damage. Check also the middle seal ring in the head of steering gear’s screw.

The seal ring of hydraulic divider of steering gear’s screw is damaged.

Take off the valve’s housing and replace the seal ring..

The hydraulic limiter acts too soon.

Regulate.

. The groove ring in the intermediate cover is damaged or lost its’ elasticity.

. Dismount the valve housing, intermediate cover and steering gear’s screw. Install new, round shaped seal.

Wrong setup of hydraulic turn limiter, steering gear after letting go of steering-wheel, sets itsself in end setting.

Regulate the settings of hydraulic turn limiter.

Steering-wheel turns itself hard while steering rights or left

The valve of the hydraulic limiter acts too fast.

Adjust the hydraulic turn limiter.

The inner seal elements are damaged.

Locate the fault, replace seals.

Turning the steering-wheel fast makes it difficult to steer

The pump regulative valve is clogged.

Dismount the regulative valve, clean it through.

The pump presses to little oil (used rack).

Replace the pump.

Air in the hydraulic system.

Deaerate the system and fill it up with oil, check the leakproofness of pump’s shaft seal rings.

Steering gear’s return movement is impeded

Stub axles are not besmeared.

Besmear.

The play of steering gear is too small.

Regulate the play.

Remedy

It is difficult to steer the car when driving straight

There’s too little oil in the system (air suction).

Fill up with oil and deaerate the hydraulic system.

Although the system is filled with oil air gets into it.

Check in what place the system sucks the air in and remove the damage. Deaerate the system with engine running.

The screws that keep the housing to chassis are slackened.

Screw the screws tight with the right moment.

Play in steering rods’ ball couplings.

Install new ball couplings.

Whilst driving the steering-wheel has serious knocks

There’s too little oil in the hydraulic system.

Fill up with oil and deaerate the system.

Although the tank is filled with oil air gets to hydraulic system anyway.

Find out in what place air gets sucked, remove the damage, fill up with oil.

There’s too big play in mesh between shaft and piston’s rack.

Regulate the mesh play.

Ball bearing’s screw and nut play.

Replace the skrew, nut or both together including balls. Play attention to choose balls from from the same selection group.

Steering-wheel’s circuital vibrations

Unbalance of wheels or brake drum.

Balance.

The geometric parameters of wheels are incorrect.

Check-up and regulate.

There’s air in the hydraulic system.

Deaerate the system, fil lit up with oil and leakproofness of pump’s seal rings.

. There’s too big play on the steering-wheel

The bracket that fastens the steering box or the stirrups that fasten the shock absorbers aren’t screwed tight.

Screw the screws that fasten the housing or shock absorbers’ nuts tight.

Steering rods’ ball couplings play.

Replace ball couplings.

The mesh between shaft and piston’s rack is excessive.

Regulate the mesh play.

Axle play on steering gear’s screw.

Regulate the mesh play.

The pump Works too loud

There’s too little oil in the system.

Find out the cause for oil’s low level and deaerate the hydraulic system.

There’s air in the hydraulic system.

Check-up for leakproofness of suction conduit and pump shaft’s seal rings. Replace if necessary seal rings and deaerate the hydraulic system.

Oil leaks

The cover of pump’s tank isn’t screwed tight.

Screw the cover tight.

The seal rings that seal up pump’s shaft are leaky.

Install new seal rings. Before installing besmear the lips.

The seal rings that seal up steering gear’s arm shaft are leaky.

Install new seal rings. Sometimes a standard wash-up of seal lips will do.

The seal ring that seals up the steering gear’s worm shaft is leaky.

Install new seal ring. Check-up chop’s surface on the spindle that co-operates with the ring.

The round seal ring that seals up the intermediate cover is leaky.

Replace the seal ring.

The seal rings that seal up the upper cover are leaky.

Replace the seal rings.
